  Power Pad Clay Applicator
Clay using your dual-action,
machine polisher!
I've had numerous requests
from our customers for this product. It allows you to clay a surface using a
dual-action polisher like the Porter
Cable 7424. I found several pads available from our suppliers
that could do this but really wanted to take this technology to the next level.
It's taken the better part of a year to bring this product to market but the
results were worth the wait.
Introducing the Power Pad
Clay Applicator:
The difference between our pad
and the competition is in the foam. Our pads are machined out of a patented, proprietary
foam made by Reisgies Schaumstoff, Germany. This new foam has taken the European
automakers by storm and is being used at the OEM level by Mercedes Benz,
Volkswagen, Porsche, Audi and now General Motors.
| This is the ideal
material for a clay application pad because it has the extra cleaning
power of a compounding pad and the gloss enhancing properties of a
polishing pad. There's nothing else like this pad in the
marketplace.
Combining
the properties of this Power Pad foam with a 4 oz. clay bar like our BLACKFIRE
Poly Clay allows you to clay the surface faster, remove
more surface contamination and create a smoother surface than could be
accomplished by hand. It's like clay on steroids! |

How to use the Power Pad Clay Applicator:
- Start with a 4 oz. clay bar, form it
into a round patty and place it in the center of the pad. The clay
should rest slightly below the top surface of the pad.
- Mist the entire pad, including the clay,
with a clay
lubricant.
- If using the Porter Cable 7424, set the
speed dial to "3".
- Place the pad on the surface and turn
the machine on.
- Using a medium to firm pressure, work
over a 2 ft. by 2 ft. area using an up and down and back and forth
motion. Note: The downward pressure you exert must compress the
pad so the clay contacts the surface. Lightly mist lubricant on the
pad or on the surface as needed to allow the clay to move freely.
After several passes, release the pressure on the pad and go over the
area one last time allowing just the foam to contact the surface.
- Wipe off residues with a dry
Microfiber cloth and test the surface for smoothness
by placing your hand in a plastic sandwich bag and gently running your
fingertips over the surface. It should be as smooth as glass with no
grit or roughness.
- Continue polishing in 2 ft. sq. areas
until the entire panel or vehicle is complete.
- If the clay becomes "dirty,"
peel it off the pad, stretch and fold the clay to create a fresh
surface and replace it on the pad.

Application Tips:
- If the orange pad becomes caked with
residues, remove the clay, (Keep it clean by putting it in a plastic
bag or container.) wash the pad in a bucket of soapy water, scrub
using your fingers, rinse thoroughly, hand squeeze the circumference
as dry as possible, replace the clay in the pad and continue.
- If residues resist easy buffing, spray
the surface with a clay lubricant and wipe with a dry Microfiber
cloth.
- Do not go above "3" on the
Porter Cable's speed dial. This pad is designed to work best at a low
speed setting.
- Do not use this pad on a professional,
circular (rotary) polisher. Use only on a dual-action (orbital)
machine.
- When you are finished, remove the clay
and store it in a plastic Ziploc storage bag or use the original clay
container. Be careful to keep the clay clean. Never use a clay that
has been dropped on the ground.
Proper Pad Care:
After use, remove the
clay and wash dirty pads in a bucket of soapy water or use a pad cleaning
solution like Snappy
Clean. Thoroughly rinse the pad and hand squeeze the
circumference to remove excess water. Wipe the center of the pad with
Isopropyl Alcohol or a window cleaner spray to remove any clay residues.
Allow the pad to air dry. Do not machine wash or dry this pad. Hand
wash only and allow to air dry.
Backing Plate
Requirements:
This pad has a 6 inch
loop backing that will work with our standard 5 or 6 inch backing plates (VBP-5,
VBP-6) or our flexible 5 or 6 inch backing plates (FBP-5,
FBP-6). Backing plates are not included with the pad.
Package of one 6-1/2 inch Power Pad Clay
Applicator with instructions.
