New, 6.5 inch, CCS Technology, Foam Pad Kits

New, 6.5 inch, CCS Technology, Professional Pad Kits

We have assembled three pad kits for use with the Porter Cable 7424 Polisher. The first kit is a basic kit for maintaining a newer vehicle. The middle kit adds a compounding pad for restoring gloss on older vehicles with oxidation (dull paint) and the last is a complete kit that would allow you to perform virtually every detailing task possible with the 7424 Polisher.

The foam pads in these kits require that your Porter Cable 7424 polisher be fitted with a 6" Hook and Loop Backing Plate. This backing plate may or may not have come with your machine.

If you are purchasing or have already purchased our 7424 Ultimate Detailing Machine, select a kit without a Backing Plate because we supply this plate with our Ultimate Detailing Machine.

If you already own a Porter Cable 7424 Polisher and your machine does not have a Hook and Loop Backing Plate, select one of our specially priced kits that include a 6 inch Flexible Backing Plate.

This plate is threaded to fit the Porter Cable 7424 polisher but requires a Porter Cable Flat Wrench to remove the stock pad and attach the new backing plate. This Flat Wrench comes with all Porter Cable 7424 Polishers.

If you lost your wrench you can order a replacement below.

The pads in these kits are the latest in Closed Cell Structure (CCS) foam technology.

What is CCS Technology?

The newer, harder, scratch-resistant clear coats require longer polishing times to remove swirls, spots and defects. The longer you polish with conventional foam pads, the less effective they become because polish migrates below the working surface of the pad. The pad "dries out."

CCS Technology solves this problem using strategic patterns of partially closed foam cells. These cells slow the rate of polish absorption, gradually releasing polish as needed by the operator. CCS Pockets reduce surface tension, prevent pad skipping and allow the operator to run the pad flat on the working surface.

CCS Pads feature two, additional, design innovations. First, they continue to incorporate the latest, Constant Pressure™ technology.

Constant pressure may not be good for people but it's great for polishing pads where you want a uniform and constant pressure on the surface being polished. Professionals have learned through experience to keep their machines parallel to the surface being polished. Tilting the machine in any direction can result in an uneven and excessive pressure being transferred to the painted surface.

Blue "Constant Pressure" foam backing
absorbs unwanted polishing motions.

This new, patented, Constant Pressure technology uses a layer of engineered, instant rebound foam between the pad and the backing plate to absorb off-axis movements while keeping the pressure of the pad on the surface constant.

The other patented, innovation incorporated in CCS Pads are a curved outer edge. The curvature on the outer edge of the pad allows easy transitions over seams and  inclines.

These pads do not have a traditional "polish pocket" because the CCS Cells regulate polish release, reduce splatter and eliminate paint "squiggles."

Whether you're a novice or a seasoned professional, these pads will yield consistently excellent results.

Curved outer edge allows easy
transition over seams.

We offer three different pad kits. Each kit is available with and without a 6 inch Flexible Backing Plate.

Our CCS65PGF-KIT is designed for newer vehicles with paint in "like new" condition or with very minor swirls. This kit contains the proper pads for light Polishing, Glazing and Finishing with your favorite polish, glaze and liquid wax or paint sealant. It will allow you to create a sizzling shine in a fraction of the time it would take by hand. We include a set of instructions that anyone can follow to achieve professional-like results.

Our CCS65PGF-KIT contains:

  • Two 6-1/2 inch CCS, White Polishing Pads. Use these pads with a polish (like BLACKFIRE Gloss Enhancing PolishMenzerna Final Polish II) to maximize surface gloss and prepare the paint for the final wax or sealant. Polishing pads will "cake" with residues during polishing making them ineffective. It typically requires two pads to polish the average size car.
  • One 6-1/2 inch CCS, Black Glazing/Finessing Pad. Use this pad to apply a glaze (3M Imperial Hand Glaze, Meguiar's No. 7 Show Car Glaze) to enhance the paint's wetness and vibrancy while hiding minor swirls and defects.

One 6-1/2 inch CCS, Gold Finishing Pad. Use this pad to apply the final liquid wax or paint sealant (BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond)
  • 16 oz. spray, Foam Pad Lubricant & Residue Remover
  • Pkg/3 Snappy Clean Pad Cleaning Packets
  • Three Microfiber Buffing Cloths. Use these to remove  polish, glaze and wax residues.
  • Instructions.

Proper Care:

Before you start working, prepare a bucket of water with a packet of Snappy Clean Pad Cleaning Powder. As pads become dirty, place them in the bucket to soak. Do not allow polish and sealant residues to dry in the pad. When you're done polishing and waxing, rinse the pads thoroughly, hand squeeze out excess water and allow to air dry. Push pads against a flat surface to push out water. Do not wring dry. Do not machine wash or dry 6-1/2 inch pads.

The Microfiber buffing cloths should be machine washed by themselves in warm water using a mild laundry detergent or Micro-Restore. Do not use bleach or fabric softeners. Machine dry at air temperature (no heat) or allow to air dry.
