CCS Technology, Cool Foam™ Pad Kits for painted
fiberglass & gel coat surfaces.
We offer two Cool Foam™ Pad
Kits for painted fiberglass finishes. We recommend these Cool Foam Pads for detailing Corvettes, early Ferrari and Lotus models with fiberglass bodies,
the BMW M1, kit cars, cars with aftermarket fiberglass or carbon fiber panels
& body kits, standard and painted fiberglass boats and fiberglass RV's. They are
excellent for use on vehicles with carbon fiber panels such as the Saleen S7,
2006 Porsche Carrerra, BMW M3 CSL, Jaguar XK8, Maseratti MC12 and the 2006 BMW
M6 Coupe.
These CCS, Cool Foam Pads are designed specifically for use on
standard and painted gel coats, painted fiberglass and composite surfaces.
Because fiberglass and composites can not dissipate heat like painted metal, these pads are
designed to minimize paint burn, checkering and scorching by internally dissipating heat to
keep the working surface cooler. This is accomplished by a Cool Foam, air
circulation band that constantly circulates air movement through the pad. This
air circulation keeps heat from the polisher's motor from reaching the pad's
surface and draws excess heat out of the pad, away from the surface being
polished. This gives you the ability to compound or spot polish for longer
periods without fear of harming the finish.

inch, CCS, Cool Foam Pads for gel coat & fiberglass surfaces.
A 6 inch hook-and-loop backing
plate is required.
These pads will work with a
dual-action polisher like the Porter Cable 7424 or professional, circular
polishers. They require that your machine be fitted with a 6 inch Hook-and-Loop
Backing Plate. This backing plate does not come with these kits. If your machine
polisher did not come with a 6 inch backing plate, you can order it below.
Dual action machines like the
Porter Cable 7424 and 7336 require a backing plate with a 5/16 x 24 threaded
post. This is our Flexible Backing Plate # FBP-6DA which is listed below.
Professional circular
polishers require a backing plate with a 5/8 x 11 threaded receptacle. This is
our Flexible Backing Plate # FBP-6C listed below.
NOTE: The
7-1/2 inch pads in these kits will not work with the 6-1/4 inch backing
plate that comes with the Porter Cable 7428 or the 6-1/2 inch backing plates
that come with the Makita 9227 or Hitachi SP18VA.
Working on marine and RV gel
coats:
The compounds, polishes
and sealants recommended below are for painted fiberglass and composite
automotive finishes.
Standard and painted marine and RV
gel coats in good condition can be polished with Gel
Coat Labs Color Restorer/Fiberglass Comnpound using the CCS, Cool Foam,
Orange Power Pad. After polishing, seal the finish using Gel
Coat/Fiberglass Micro Polish & Sealant using a clean CCS,
Cool Foam Orange Power Pad or CCS, Cool Foam, White Polishing Pad.
Moderate to severely dull,
chalky gel coats are best restored by compounding with a circular machine
polisher using a gel coat, wool compounding pad. If you are working on an
oxidized boat or RV, these gel coat pad kits might better suit your needs:

suits your needs:
Our CCSFIBER-PGF
kit is designed for newer, painted fiberglass, vehicles and gel coat boats or RV's with
surfaces in "like new" condition or
with minor swirls or chalking. This kit contains the proper pads for light Polishing,
Glazing and Finishing
with your favorite liquid wax or paint sealant. It will allow you to create a
sizzling shine in a fraction of the time it would take by hand. We include a set
of instructions that anyone can follow to achieve professional-like results.
Our CCSFIBER-PGF
Kit
contains:
- Two 7-1/2 inch CCS,
Cool Foam, White Polishing Pads. Use these pads with a polish (like BLACKFIRE
Gloss Enhancing Polish, Menzerna
Final Polish II)
to maximize surface gloss and prepare the
paint for the final wax or sealant. Polishing pads will "cake"
with residues during polishing making them ineffective. It typically
requires two pads to polish the average size car.
- One 7-1/2 inch CCS,
Cool Foam, Black Glazing/Finessing Pad. Use this pad to apply a glaze (3M
Imperial Hand Glaze, Meguiar's
No. 7 Show Car Glaze) to enhance the paint's wetness and
vibrancy while hiding minor swirls and defects.
- One 7-1/2 inch CCS,
Cool Foam, Red
Finishing Pad. Use this pad to apply the final liquid
wax or paint sealant (BLACKFIRE
Wet Diamond,)
- 16 oz. spray, Foam Pad
Lubricant & Residue Remover
|
- Pkg/3 Snappy Clean Pad
Cleaning Packets
- Three Microfiber
Buffing Cloths. Use these to remove polish, glaze and wax
residues.
- Instructions.

Our CCSFIBER-CPF
kit is designed for older, painted fiberglass, vehicles with paint that is dull and/or
with deeper swirls, spots and defects. This kit is also for gel coat boats
and RV's with deeper oxidation and chalk. This kit contains the proper pads
for Compounding to remove swirls and
defects, final Polishing to restore
surface gloss and Finishing with your
favorite wax or sealant. Again, we include instructions that anyone can
follow to achieve professional-like results in a fraction of the time it
would take by hand.
Note:
Restoring dull, chalky marine and RV gel coats is best accomplished with a
circular machine polishers. Dual-action machines like the Porter Cable
7424 do not have the cutting power needed by gel coat compounds and
polishes.

What's not included:
If you're working on a
severely dull, oxidized or neglected paint finish, the Orange Power Pads in
the CCSFIBER-CPF kit might not have enough cutting power to restore surface gloss. Consider
adding the CCS, Cool Foam, Yellow Compounding Pad (below) for maximum cutting power.
The CCSFIBER-CPF kit does not come with
a Black Glazing/Finessing Pad. If you plan to use a glaze (like Meguiar's No.7 Show Car
Glaze, or 3M Imperial
Hand Glaze) between polishing and finishing, add the CCS,
Cool Foam, Black Glazing/Finessing Pad (below).
Proper Care:
When you're done polishing and
waxing, wash all pads in a bucket of soapy water (or use Snappy Clean Pad
Cleaner), rinse thoroughly, hand squeeze out excess water and allow to air dry. Push pads against a flat surface to push out water. Do not wring dry.
The Microfiber buffing cloths
should be machine washed by themselves in warm water using a mild laundry
detergent or Micro-Restore. Do not use bleach or fabric softeners. Machine dry
at air temperature (no heat) or allow to air dry.
