Black Baron Foam Pad Lubricant & Residue Remover
Foam Pad Lubricant
insures great results, even if you're a beginner.
Product review by Terry Freiberg
I've been machine polishing
vehicles for nearly four decades and I still manage to get myself into trouble
from time to time. Sometimes, I'm not paying attention and other times I'm in a
hurry and will take a short cut in spite of knowing better.
For example, I know to always
"season" a fresh pad before turning the machine on. I will typically
give a fresh pad one light mist of water, apply the compound or polish to the
surface and spread the polish using the foam pad with the machine off. This
coats the pad and the surface being polished with product to prevent scratching
or hazing the finish. With the pad "seasoned" (coated with product), I
will then place the pad on the surface and turn the machine on. What you do not
want, under any circumstances, is to turn the polisher on with any portion of
the foam pad "dry".
I know to do this but I'm
still guilty of putting a polish on the car, sticking a fresh pad on the
polisher and turning the power on. On some finishes, like black and red
Corvettes, I've instantly hazed or dulled the finish. Now I've got to spend more
time and perhaps use another product to remove this haze and restore surface
gloss.
| Black Baron Foam Pad
Lubricant, Conditioner & Residue Remover prevents this from happening.
Simply put a fresh pad on your polisher, either dual-action or circular, give it
one mist of lubricant, apply your compound, polish, glaze, wax, or
sealant to the finish and start polishing.
I still recommend seasoning the pad (spreading
the polish with the machine off) but I'm "old school". |

|
| I'm told by the
chemist who invented this product that it's absolutely impossible to scratch or
haze the finish if a dry pad is given just one mist of lubricant.
Black Baron Foam Pad
Lubricant, Conditioner & Residue Remover was developed for body shop use and
the new car prep department at car dealerships. It is body shop safe (contains
no silicone oils) and allows persons with little or no polishing experience to
achieve professional-like results. I won't go as far as to say that it will make
polishing 100% idiot-proof but I tried my best to create haze using this product
and it never failed to produce anything but a bright, swirl and haze-free
finish. With this lubricant and our Hi-Gloss, Constant Pressure, Foam Pads, I
would have no problem handing a machine polisher to someone with no polishing
experience and have them work on a new, black, Porsche or Corvette. That's saying
a lot!
Plus, a bonus feature.
In addition to making machine
polishing easier and safer, this product will also remove stubborn compound,
polish and wax residues. Normally, you keep polishing until the compound or
polish starts to dry. Then you stop and buff off residues by hand using a
Microfiber buffing cloth. If you were to continue polishing after the product
has dried, you would burn the residue into the finish creating a film that is
very difficult to remove. This can also happen when polishing a surface that is
too hot or polishing at too high of a speed for a particular product. I have
also run into products that create a stubborn film even when applied properly.
Application Tip:
When conditioning a fresh pad, use only one mist of lubricant. Using too
much lubricant can increase splatter and may alter the characteristic of the
product being applied.

If you encounter a film that
resists easy buffing, mist the film with Foam Pad Lubricant & Residue
Remover and buff with a Microfiber cloth. Even difficult films will buff off
easily
Detailing Tip: Try
misting a foam pad caked with polish residues. This lubricant rejuvenates
the polish in the pad and brings the finish to life without adding any
additional polish.

I have not found this
lubricant to alter the performance or application of any compound, polish,
glaze, wax or sealant but I have obviously not used it with every product in the
marketplace. In the unlikely event that you find a product that does not apply
properly with this lubricant, wash the foam pad in a bucket of soapy water,
rinse, allow to air dry then follow the polish manufacturer's recommendations
for machine application.
Available in 16 oz.
spray and 1 gallon refill.
